Popular Waitrose food recalled over health risk

Waitrose & Partners are recalling a popular bakery item as the product contains an allergen which is not declared on the label. The Waitrose & Partners 4 Richly Fruited Hot Cross Buns have been pulled from shelves because it contains barley making it "a possible health risk". Customers who have purchased the item and have an allergy to barley have been told by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) not to eat the hot cross buns and to return them instore for a refund. Best before 06 June 2026 Waitrose has warned customers of the undeclared allergen stating: "Do not consume, package up item, return the product to your local Waitrose & Partners branch for a refund."
