Published: 12:04, 13 July 2026 | Updated: 12:12, 13 July 2026 More than 11million people in southern and eastern England are now under a hosepipe ban as the third heatwave of the year continues to grip the country. A further 21million have been encouraged to reduce hosepipe usage to avoid constraints amid huge strain on supplies and an increasing risk of drought. But some Brits are defiantly vowing to breach the bans imposed by water firms, saying they failed to fix leaks while paying bosses millions of pounds in bonuses. Homeowners are furious at the restrictions as firms leak around three billion litres of water every day across England and Wales after water bosses have awarded themselves £112million in bonuses and incentive payments over the past decade. Some are also unimpressed after sewage pollution hit a new high last year and Environment Agency water company ratings fell to the lowest level on record. Now it’s time to have your say in our latest poll - will you follow a ban in your area? In the last poll, Mail readers were asked: 'Was the King right to meet Harry and Meghan and the grandchildren?' Out of more than 65,000 votes, 41 per cent said 'yes', 40 per cent said 'no' and 19 per cent said 'not sure'.
