Police were called to the Millennium Bridge in Cheltenham, at 7.30pm on Wednesday April 8 following a report that two males had thrown a large branch at a cyclist, who was travelling on the road below.Gloucestershire Police said it is not believed the cyclist was injured, but the men were approached by Mr Davis on Honeybourne Way as they left the bridge. It is reported an exchange took place between them before one of the males punched Mr Davis in the face causing him to fall to the ground.View 2 Imagesthe Millennium Bridge in Cheltenham,(Image: Google Maps)The suspects then fled before officers arrived at the location. Emergency services attended and Mr Davis was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. Mr Davis, from Cheltenham, died on Friday night (10/04) - two days after the alleged assault.Family have paid tribute to a "kind, compassionate man, a friend to many and a consummate storyteller". In a statement, they said: "We as a family are devastated by the loss of Jimmy. He was a friend to so many, but to me and my family he was a much-loved uncle, brother and brother-in-law."Jimmy was one of the kindest people anyone could have the pleasure of meeting. He was caring, compassionate, and always putting others first....
