Many are in a local community hall in the area while others in the surrounding areas have been told to keep their windows and doors closed. The incident is ongoing at Victoria Street in Treharris and roads are also closed at Mary Street and Thomas Street. Large plumes of smoke can be seen coming from behind a St John Ambulance hall. A statement from South Wales Police reads: "Emergency services are currently dealing with a fire on Victoria Street, Treharris. "A number of properties have been evacuated, with residents directed to a local community hall. The following road closures are in place: Mary Street, Thomas Street. Access to Treharris via Windsor Place. "Large plumes of smoke are visible in the area. Residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed and avoid the area to allow emergency services to work safely and keep routes clear." A spokesperson from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "We are currently dealing with an incident in Victoria Street, Treharris. To support the emergency services and to allow our crews to carry out their duties, please avoid the area. If you live nearby, please close all windows and doors." You can follow live updates below.
