Phillies preach patience as Zack Wheeler works to add velocity to fastball

DENVER — The first pitch Zack Wheeler threw Friday for Triple-A Lehigh Valley was a fastball at 92.7 mph. The final pitch Wheeler threw was a fastball at 93.3 mph. He hopped on a commercial flight after his three innings in Durham, N.C., and was already back to work Saturday morning at Citizens Bank Park. He will start again Wednesday at Triple A, the standard four days between outings, and everything continues to progress.Except for the velocity.Advertisement
