Drivers continue to face expensive petrol and diesel costs when heading to the filling station, with many forecourts routinely charging more than £2 per litre.
Fresh data from RAC Fuel Watch shows that drivers are currently paying an average of 161.47p for petrol and 181.45p for diesel.
This is the highest price seen so far for petrol since the outbreak of the Iran war, while motorists will spend £100 on a full tank for a standard 55-litre car.
Research also highlights how rapidly prices are increasing, with petrol rising by 0.16p daily, while average diesel costs are soaring by 0.35p every day.
Experts from the RAC have warned that further price hikes could be likely, especially as conflict in the Middle East continues, impacting global oil prices.
Simon Williams, head of policy at the motoring organisation, said price hikes could be halted if the price of crude oil remained at around $80 (£59.40).
Markets show that prices are stabilising around $80, although this could change if the United States or Iran launch attacks, or any incidents occur in the Strait of Hormuz.
