Perth paediatrician accused of filming himself sexually abusing children in a hospital hit with further charges

Published: 03:37, 6 August 2026 | Updated: 03:41, 6 August 2026 A Perth doctor who treated vulnerable children faces dozens of new child sex abuse charges after allegedly filming himself assaulting some of them in hospital, according to police.  Dr Chia Liang Saw, 41, has been charged with 72 child sex abuse offences relating to 18 victims, some of whom are as young as 10. The developmental paediatrician, who specialised in behavioural issues affecting children such as ADHD, worked across multiple locations in Perth.  Between November 2022 and May 2026, Saw allegedly committed child sex abuse offences in the suburbs of Wembley, Nedlands and Midland.  Police first charged him in late May with persistent sexual conduct with a child under 16 and possessing child exploitation material.  Officers later laid dozens of additional charges as their investigation progressed. In July, he was charged with 20 counts of using electronic communication to procure a child to engage in sexual activity after allegedly being snared by a 'vigilante paedophile hunter'. On Wednesday, he was also charged with multiple counts relating to indecent dealing, recording and sexual penetration of a child under 13 years old, indecent recording of a child under 16 years old and one count of producing child exploitation material. Dr Chia Liang Saw (pictured) faces 72 child sex abuse charges relating to 18 alleged victims, some as young as ten  He has also been charged with 20 counts of procuring a child to engage in sexual activity after allegedly being snared by a 'vigilante paedophile hunter' online At a hearing on July 3, Perth Magistrates Court heard the allegations were based on alleged communications with a woman described in court as a 'vigilante' and 'paedophile hunter'.  The woman, who is not a police officer, reportedly used a social media app to pose as a child and engaged in conversations on a Sugar Daddy website.  The 'vigilante' then passed the information to investigators.  Saw’s alleged victims include female patients aged 12 to 15, some of whom he allegedly covertly recorded while they received treatment for ADHD.  He is also alleged to have abused a 10-year-old girl at his family home and exploited a 13-year-old girl online. The court was previously told Saw allegedly sent a series of 'concerning' emails to three children, including offering to buy a child a ukulele. In another, he allegedly told a child he had spotted them outside their school. Saw also allegedly created an email account for a child patient, sent the child emails while they were in school and waited outside the child’s school and home, according to AAP. The doctor, whose medical licence was suspended, has previously denied the allegations. He remains on bail and is due to front court on Thursday.
