Pakistan, DRC agree to deepen defence, security cooperation: ISPR

Pakistan and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on Friday agreed to deepen bilateral defence and security cooperation, with their military leadership discussing regional security and matters of mutual interest, the military’s media wing said. The understanding was reached during a meeting between Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir and a high-level DRC defence delegation headed by Chief of Defence of the Armed Forces of the DRC Lieutenant General Banza Mwilambwe Jules at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), "matters of mutual interest, the regional security environment and avenues for enhanced bilateral defence and security cooperation were discussed".  The two dignitaries also expressed satisfaction over the longstanding cordial relations between Pakistan and the DRC, ISPR said. Upon his arrival at GHQ, the visiting dignitary was presented a Guard of Honour by a smartly turned-out tri-services contingent, according to ISPR. Earlier, Lieutenant General Banza Mwilambwe Jules also called on Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu. ISPR said the visiting dignitary lauded the "professionalism, operational capabilities and unwavering commitment of the Armed Forces of Pakistan towards maintaining peace and stability in the region". He also acknowledged the significant progress achieved by Pakistan through indigenisation and self-reliance, the military’s media wing added.
