Published: 22:01, 8 June 2026 | Updated: 22:02, 8 June 2026 A teenager has been caught speeding at 190km/h in Sydney - before telling police his car could not travel that fast. The 17-year-old was allegedly travelling in his white Hyundai i30 at 187km/h on The Northern Road in Luddenham in Sydney's west, an 80km/h zone. Police caught up with him at a red light at Elizabeth Drive. 'Couldn't have been me, my car doesn't go that fast,' the teenager claimed when spoken to by police. The teen admitted to using recreational cannabis after a follow-up test came back positive for the drug. He was cleared for alcohol and other substances. Not only was the teen speeding, but his car was unregistered. He was charged on both counts, had his licence confiscated and suspended, was banned for a day, and will face Penrith Local Court.
