Published: 11:08, 3 August 2026 | Updated: 11:10, 3 August 2026 Outrageous video footage shows the moment a banned driver complained about being 'targeted' by the police - despite having 59 points on his licence.  Iain Ashmore, 45, was pulled over while driving a white Ford Transit Connect on July 23, even though he was disqualified from the road.  Bodycam footage shows a police officer confronting Ashmore on the number of points he had racked up on his driving licence.  But instead of owning up to being disqualified, Ashmore joked with officers that he thought he had even more penalty points.  He complained he was 'fed up of being pulled over' and threatened to make a formal complaint.  Ashmore claimed police were unfairly picking on him after stopping him 'three times in one month'.  PC Mark Solder then checked his details and told the motorist 'It says you've got 59 points at the minute.' Ashmore casually replied: 'Oh has it gone down now has it?' Ashmore then said: 'My mistake it was 61.' Accumulating 12 or more points within a three-year period typically results in a minimum six-month driving ban.  Speeding can land you three to six points while driving using a mobile phone can get you six points.   When asked how he had managed to keep his licence with 61 points, Ashmore laughed and replied: 'Because I'm a very good person.'  Despite admitting his insurance costs were 'astronomical', Ashmore shrugged them off as 'just a pretty penny', insisting it was still cheaper than insurance for lorry drivers.  Ashmore, of Witham St Hughes in Lincolnshire, admitted three offences of driving while disqualified, three offences of driving without any insurance and one offence of driving while using a mobile phone. He was illegally driving the white Ford Transit Connect on May 30, June 23 and July 23 this year, Lincoln Magistrates' Court heard. Last month he was handed an eight-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months. PC Solder, of Lincolnshire Police, said: 'This man continued to drive despite being banned from doing so; he is now disqualified until July 2027. 'He has 59 points on his driving licence. 'Driving is a privilege but does come with responsibilities and costs that the vast majority of road users understand they must meet. 'He is a risk on the roads and a menace to other lawful drivers.'
