Learn more.'Onimusha: Way of the Sword' is released this September.CapcomThe upcoming Onimusha: Way of the Sword is finally being released this September, and the game now has a new demo available. It’s been a very long time since we had a new Onimusha game, which is a huge shame considering how influential these games were. After all, the Souls series owes a lot to the Onimusha games, and this new Way of the Sword installment is clearly a testament to that.So a new Onimusha game is most certainly a big deal in gaming terms, and this one is really going all out. Not only do you play as the legendary Miyamoto Musashi, but with the likeness of a young Toshiro Mifune. The latter is something of an Onimusha series staple, with each game in the series featuring the likeness of famous actors.Mifune is definitely acting royalty, and playing as a younger version of him is both wonderful and slightly eerie. The game itself also plays really well, with some nicely technical combat and solid level design. It’s still very much an Onimusha game, but the controls and camera are now much more current. It also feels like Capcom is on a bit of a roll at the moment, with the recent Pragmata being a genuinely excellent and highly innovative game in terms of how it played.By contrast, this new Onimusha is a more classical type of hack and slash game, but one that has clearly been executed in a very deft and thoughtful way.Onimusha: Way of the Sword is released on September 25 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, the Epic Store, and Xbox.Follow me on...
