Daniel Toutounji, a wanted member of the Comanchero bikie gang, was arrested at Sydney International Airport after eight years on the run.

He faces multiple charges including drug supply and directing a criminal group, stemming from a 2018 police raid.

Police believe Toutounji was aware of his wanted status and may have felt it was time to return to Australia.

By ELIZA MCPHEE, ASSISTANT EDITOR, AUSTRALIA Published: 10:57, 24 July 2026 | Updated: 10:57, 24 July 2026 An alleged 'influential' member of the Comanchero outlaw bikie gang has been arrested after eight years on the run. Police swooped on Daniel Toutounji, 37, at Sydney International Airport on Friday morning after he touched down following a flight from Berlin. He was one of New South Wales' most wanted men and was being pursued on outstanding warrants for drug supply and dealing with the proceeds of crime. The 37-year-old was escorted out of the airport in handcuffs before he was charged with supplying a prohibited drug greater than a large commercial quantity, organise/conduct/assist drug premises, knowingly and recklessly direct a criminal group and knowingly deal with the proceeds of crime. He was refused bail and is expected to face court on Friday. His arrest stems from a raid of a unit in Randwick, in Sydney's east, back in April, 2018. During that search, police found 1kg of cocaine, about $95,000 cash, two machine pistols and three semi-automatic pistols, as well as a large amount of drug paraphernalia. Detectives identified two people who may have been able to assist with the investigation; however, both were believed to have left the country. 'It's a great result today to have him come back and face justice,' he said. 'He was well aware that he was wanted for some serious matters back here in Australia and NSW, so I think it just got too much for him. 'I believe he was aware there was a very good chance he'd be arrested back in Sydney. '[NSW Police] work very closely with our Commonwealth partners and international law enforcement to make people who are wanted in Australia feel very uncomfortable overseas.' Police do not believe the 37-year-old is still affiliated with the Comancheros.  The second man is believed to have fled to Thailand after the 2018 raid and later the Middle East.  Sorry we are not currently accepting comments on this article.
