Nothing matches what Celtics are doing in terms of nonstop surprises (not even the Pats)

It’s not so much that the 2025-26 Boston Celtics have been a “surprise.” It’s that they’ve been a conveyor belt of surprises, an assembly line of ever-altering expectations that have inspired a nonstop whirl of people to stand up and shout, “Wow, I didn’t see that coming!”I’ll go so far as to submit that I can’t think of a team in recent Boston sports history that has delivered this many surprises in one season. And I know what you’re thinking: What about the 2025 New England Patriots? Yes, the Pats went from 4-13 in 2024 to 14-3 in 2025 and advanced to the Super Bowl, but that was a different kind of surprise. It was one great big “worst-to-first” situation, like when the Minnesota Twins and the Atlanta Braves met in the 1991 World Series.
