ALBAWABA - South Korea's defence minister alleged on Thursday that its neighboring country, North Korea, is estimated to have around 80 to 120 nuclear weapons.
The announcement by Ahn Gyu-back came shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump said North Korea has 57 nuclear weapons.
"We usually estimate it to be around 80 to 120," Ahn Gyu-back said, telling lawmakers, as reported by AFP.
Days ago, Trump revealed intentions to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong-un later this year. The U.S. president suggested he and Kim were holding secret negotiations on Tuesday after unveiling that Washington would downgrade its participation in military exercises held by South Korea.
However, Kim Yo-jong, the powerful sister of North Korea’s supreme leader, responded to Trump's desire to meet her brother, Kim, saying, "The United States' hostile policy toward the DPRK has not changed, and the United States and its followers are vigorously carrying out hostile military activities against the DPRK even at this very moment."
