Paramedics and police cars descended on Jesse Gray Primary School in West Bridgford at around 2pm today. Nine pupils were taken to Queen's Medical Centre. East Midlands Ambulance Service said it was called to a medical emergency at the school. Paramedics and a hazardous response team were called to the scene alongside a responder from the air ambulance, a spokesperson said. Nottinghamshire Police said the incident is not believed to be criminal and said officers were at the scene in a 'supportive capacity'. Local councillor Jonathan Wheeler said he had been contacted by concerned residents after around eight ambulances were seen outside the school. He said: I have spoken with the school and they have a couple of pupils who have gone to hospital for precautionary checks, the parents are aware and I won’t say more for their privacy. 'Given the nature of messages sent and rumours out there the school are happy for me to post this update. Thank you.'
