Newcastle United star breaks leg during training
Newcastle United star Lewis Miley has broken his leg during a training session, ending his campaign with three matches still remaining.
The 20-year-old sustained the injury to his lower right fibula whilst preparing with his teammates at the club's training ground.
His absence comes at a difficult time for Eddie Howe's side, with Miley having featured in the starting lineup for Newcastle's previous four Premier League fixtures during a challenging run of form.
The young midfielder's final appearance before the setback was Saturday's encouraging 3-1 victory against Brighton at St James' Park.
Newcastle confirmed the news in an official club statement, revealing that Miley will now turn his attention towards being fit for the beginning of pre-season preparations.
Newcastle said: "Lewis Miley will miss the remaining three matches of the season after fracturing his fibula.
"The 20-year-old midfielder sustained the injury to his lower right leg during training on Tuesday.
"He will travel to a specialist consultant on Wednesday before continuing his rehabilitation with the club's medical team, and is expected to return for the start of pre-season.

Throughout the current campaign, the academy graduate has accumulated 34 appearances across all competitions, including seven outings in the Champions League.
In the Premier League, he has started 15 matches, contributing one goal and four assists under Howe's management.
The midfielder now joins a growing list of Newcastle players sidelined for the remainder of the season.
Defender Emil Krafth has been unavailable since sustaining a knee injury in November, which subsequently required surgical intervention earlier this year.
Full-back Tino Livramento remains doubtful for the closing fixtures due to a hip complaint, with Howe previously stating the club would need to assess his availability on an ongoing basis.
Centre-back Fabian Schar is also recovering following an operation on a minor foot problem.
Newcastle ended their losing streak over the weekend with a 3-1 win over Brighton.
Goals from William Osula, Dan Burn and Harvey Barnes were enough to end a four-game losing streak in the league and boost the Magpies up to 13th.
Newcastle still have a very slim chance of Europe this season, but will require results to go their way.
