İsrail Başbakanlık Ofisi'nin Amerikan X şirketinin sosyal medya platformundaki hesabından yapılan açıklamada da Netanyahu ve Dışişleri Bakanı Gideon Saar'ın NYT'ye karşı tazminat davası açılması talimatını verdiği kaydedildi. NYT köşe yazarı Nicholas Kristof tarafından yapılan ve 12 Mayıs'ta yayımlanan araştırmada, İsrail tarafından alıkonulan veya saldırıya uğrayan 14 Filistinli kadın ve erkekle görüşülmüş, konuyu ele alan haber, İsrail gözaltı merkezlerinde tecavüz, cinsel saldırı, çıplak arama, cinsel organlara yönelik işkence ve cinsel şiddet tehditlerinin Filistinli esirlere karşı yaygın biçimde uygulandığını ortaya koymuştu. Kristof, mağdurların anlatımlarının birbirinden bağımsız olmasına rağmen dikkat çekici ölçüde benzerlik taşıdığına işaret ederek, İsrailli yetkililerin cinsel şiddeti fiilen "standart operasyon prosedürlerinden biri" haline getirdiğini bildirmişti. Araştırmada ifadelerine yer verilen 46 yaşındaki Sami el-Sai, 2024'te gözaltına alındıktan sonra gardiyanların cop ve havuç kullanarak kendisine cinsel saldırıda bulunduklarını anlattı. El-Sai, "Çok büyük acı çekiyordum, ölmek için dua ediyordum." ifadelerini kullanmıştı. Filistinli çiftçi de şikayette bulunmak istemesinin ardından aynı gün içinde üç kez copla tecavüze uğradığını, İsrail iç istihbarat teşkilatı Şin-Bet tarafından serbest bırakıldıktan sonra "sorun çıkarmaması" konusunda uyarıldığını söylemişti. Gazze'den alıkonulan gazeteci de gardiyanların cinsel organını fermuarla sıkıştırdığını, çıplak ve gözleri bağlı haldeyken üzerine köpek salındığını ve tüm bu anların kameraya kaydedildiğini anlatmıştı. Guardian gazetesinin 21 Nisan'da haberleştirdiği uluslararası insani yardım kuruluşlarından oluşan Batı Şeria Koruma Konsorsiyumu (West Bank Protection Consortium) tarafından hazırlanan "Batı Şeria'da Cinsel Şiddet ve Zorla Yerinden Etme" başlıklı rapor da son 3 yılda Filistinli esirlere yönelik en az 16 cinsel şiddet vakasının kaydedildiğini ortaya koymuştu. Rapor, 83 görüşmeye dayanırken İsrailli askerler ve Filistin topraklarını gasbeden İsraillilerin, kadınlara, erkeklere ve çocuklara yönelik çıplak bırakma, ağrılı vücut aramaları, cinsel organlarını teşhir etme, cinsel saldırı tehdidinde bulunma ve aşağılayıcı fotoğraflar çekip yayma gibi yöntemler kullandığı kaydedilmişti. Raporda, utanç ve damgalanma nedeniyle gerçek sayının çok daha yüksek olabileceğine işaret edilmişti.
