Netanyahu claims Israel holds offensive edge in multi-front war

ALBAWABA- Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Israel has seized the initiative across multiple battlefronts, asserting major gains against Iran and its regional allies despite mounting signs of military strain.

In a televised address following a high-level security meeting and a visit to the IDF Northern Command, Netanyahu portrayed Israel as firmly in control of operations spanning Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and beyond. He said Israeli forces are “deeply entrenched” inside hostile territories and have established expanded security zones in key areas, including southern Lebanon and parts of Gaza.

Netanyahu claimed that Iran-backed groups, including Hezbollah and Hamas, have been significantly weakened, describing them as “defeated enemies fighting for survival.” He also reiterated that Israel has neutralized senior entities' leadership, including Hassan Nasrallah, and vowed to eliminate remaining threats.

The remarks come amid the ongoing Operation Roaring Lion, a joint U.S.-Israeli military campaign launched in late February 2026 targeting Iran’s nuclear and missile infrastructure and its network of allied militias. Over the weekend, Israeli strikes reportedly hit more than 250 targets across Iran and Lebanon, while Iran and its allies responded with continued missile and rocket attacks on Israeli territory, triggering repeated air-raid alerts.

Israeli forces have also intensified operations in southern Lebanon, expanding a buffer zone along the border and issuing evacuation orders as part of efforts to push Hezbollah forces further north. Casualty figures remain unclear, with reports of significant losses on both sides, including civilians.

Despite Netanyahu’s confident tone, internal concerns are growing. IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir recently warned that the military is under severe strain due to prolonged multi-front operations. He cited manpower shortages, exhausted reserve forces, and the lack of updated conscription laws as critical risks, cautioning that the army could “collapse in on itself” without urgent policy action.

The contrast between battlefield claims and internal warnings highlights the increasing pressure on Israel as the war drags on, with no immediate ceasefire in sight and regional tensions continuing to escalate.
