The high street lender has been emailing customers to inform them, though the bank emphasises "there's nothing you need to do".‌NatWest ranks among the largest and most recognised banks in the UK, serving over 20 million customers across retail and business sectors. The bank has attracted attention lately following its announcement that dozens of branches will close over the coming year.‌The banking giant has revealed closure dates for 34 banks, with three additional closures planned for dates still to be confirmed. NatWest has moved substantially towards a digital-first approach, with upwards of 10 million customers accessing its mobile app daily, reports the Express.‌Given the substantial number of customers utilising its online banking services, it has been notifying users of an upcoming update next month. A statement from the bank states: "We're changing how we process biometric data on 20th May 2026. There's nothing you need to do. We just want to let you know."It clarified: "What is biometric data?
