Published: 18:34, 11 June 2026 | Updated: 18:40, 11 June 2026 A 35-year-old woman has died after plunging 40 feet from a tree in Utah. Megan Frost was killed after she fell headfirst from a branch inside Swanny City Park in Moab, police said. Investigators believe she arrived at the park between 1.30am and 5am on June 9. She headed for the largest tree in the park and climbed up between two branches which formed a V formation at the top of the tree, according to investigators.  Frost was standing on a medium-sized branch which snapped and dropped her, police said. The fall was described as 'instantly fatal,' and consistent with falls with similar heights and terrains.  Her body was discovered by a horrified walker who spotted her lying under the broken branch early Monday. The local police, Grand County Sheriff's Office, and fire department responded and initially designated the area a crime scene. The investigation is ongoing as authorities wait for an autopsy to dictate the exact cause of death. According to her mother, Mary Watson Moreland, Frost loved nature and being spontaneous. She wrote: 'Whether she was rock climbing, climbing a tree just to see the view from above, exercising or simply spending time in nature, she embraced life with courage, curiosity, and an adventurous spirit.' Just a few months ago, on March 21, 2026, Frost was reported missing by Delaware State Police. She was located and the missing person's alert was removed only a few days later.  Her devastated sister, Becky Yetton, posted on Facebook saying, 'If you knew Megan, you knew she was wonderfully unpredictable and completely herself.' Megan Frost (pictured right) is seen with her family members, who paid tribute to her Moab City warned park-goers about another downed tree (pictured) just days before her death  Just days before Frost died, Moab City posted a warning on its Facebook page about a large tree limb which fell down near the skate park. The warning was issued the same day that a 13-year-old girl was critically injured by a falling tree over 300 miles away in Huntsville, Utah. The teen was in the Quist Beach area when she was struck and sustained a 'traumatic injury,' according to police. The Daily Mail reached out to Moab City Council regarding the maintenance of their public park trees but received no comment. The comments below have not been moderated.
