National Lottery winner FINALLY comes forward to claim £10K-a-month jackpot

A mystery National Lottery winner has finally come forward to claim a life-changing prize worth £10,000 a month for a year after a public appeal was launched to track them down.

Allwyn, the operator of the National Lottery, confirmed it had received a claim for the Set For Life prize from a ticket purchased in Croydon, south London.

The winning ticket matched all five main numbers in the draw held on April 2, when the winning combination was 2, 3, 8, 27 and 39, with a Life Ball of 7.

The claim will now go through a full validation process, including checks to ensure the ticket complies with the Games Rules Terms and Conditions and to protect the integrity of the National Lottery.

Subject to successful validation, the prize will be paid at an appointment with one of Allwyn's Winners' Advisers.

The ticket-holder will then decide whether to go public and share their story, with no information on whether the winner is an individual or syndicate to be released unless they choose to do so.

The news comes after another Set For Life winner from Poole in Dorset recently revealed his plans for his own £10,000-a-month prize, saying the win had taken enormous pressure off his family.

The anonymous winner, a family man in his 30s, said he planned to put the money towards buying a new property and vehicle.

He said: "It's a great feeling, and it takes so much pressure off me and my family — we are able to hit all of our goals now."

Mr Carter congratulated the Poole winner at the time, saying: "We're so pleased this win will make such a difference for you and your family."

The Set For Life format, which offers regular monthly payments over a sustained period rather than a single lump sum, has proven consistently popular with players across the country.

The Croydon winner's claim also comes just weeks after the National Lottery underwent its biggest ever format shake-up, with a new two-round draw structure introduced to the main Lotto game.

The change, introduced earlier this month, is expected to more than double the annual number of Lotto millionaires from around 140 to approximately 345.

The National Lottery continues to generate significant funds for good causes across the United Kingdom, raising around £33 million every week for funded projects.

Since its launch in 1994, more than £53 billion has been distributed to support over 670,000 good cause initiatives in every part of the country.

Projects funded range from grassroots sport and local arts to heritage preservation and community initiatives, with most postcode districts having benefited from National Lottery funding at some point.

In total, the National Lottery has awarded players more than £102 billion in prize money since it launched, creating over 8,000 millionaires in the process.

The Croydon winner joins a long list of fortunate ticket-holders who have scooped life-changing sums through the Set For Life game.

Other significant prizes have been claimed in recent months, including a £1 million EuroMillions jackpot from a ticket bought in County Tyrone and a separate UK Millionaire Maker prize won by a ticket-holder in Hartlepool.
