NARSA Warns SMS Links for Traffic Fine Payments Are Fraudulent
Marrakech – Morocco’s National Road Safety Agency (NARSA) has denied sending SMS messages containing links to its website for the payment of traffic fines, warning that the circulating messages are fraudulent.
In a statement issued Sunday, the agency said it was responding to “the recent spread of voice messages” claiming that citizens received texts with a link to NARSA’s site for paying fines detected by fixed radars.
NARSA confirmed it “does not offer any service of this type” and has “absolutely no link” with the messages in question. The agency added that the website referenced in the SMS is fake and “usurps the identity of an official service” that does not exist among its digital offerings.
The agency urged citizens and road users to exercise “the utmost vigilance” when receiving such messages. It called on the public to avoid clicking on suspicious links and to verify official website addresses before taking any action.
NARSA also warned users not to “enter or share any personal information or sensitive data, including banking information or passwords” on suspicious sites. It recommended reporting any suspected fraud to the relevant authorities.
The warning comes only days after the General Tax Directorate (DGI) issued a similar alert on Thursday. The DGI cautioned its users against fraudulent SMS messages and emails impersonating its services or its SIMPL platform.
The tax authority stressed that it “will never ask for your login credentials, your password or any other personal data by SMS, email or phone.” It also warned against messages creating a sense of urgency or prompting users to open attachments or click on links.
The DGI directed users who receive suspicious messages to contact its official channels, including the SIMPL assistance email at simpl@tax.gov.ma or its helpline at 05 37 27 37 27.
A widely circulated awareness graphic by CIH Bank highlights several red flags in these scam messages. The fraudulent text references the RADAR traffic violation system and pressures recipients to pay within 24 hours to secure a 50% discount, threatening legal surcharges afterward.

The bank notes that official institutions address citizens by their full name, that real fines never come with promotional-style discount offers or urgency pressure, and that the link included – “amendesl.top” – is a domain commonly associated with scam operations, not an official government address.
