By SOPHIE GABLE, US REPORTER and RUTH STYLES, US SENIOR REPORTER Published: 21:01, 4 July 2026 | Updated: 21:21, 4 July 2026 Representative Nancy Pelosi's husband, Paul, has been charged with a misdemeanor crime after an alleged hit-and-run. Paul, 86, has been accused of crashing into an unoccupied parked car on the shoulder of a roadway just after 2.30pm in Yountville, a small town in the Wine Country of California, on Thursday. The Napa County Sheriff's Department said he briefly stopped and then drove away. The second vehicle was legally parked on the roadway and was forced onto the curb due to the impact, sustaining major rear damage, according to cops. Paul allegedly 'admitted to hitting something, but said he did not know what he had hit, so he kept driving,' according to a press release from the Napa County Sheriff's Department. 'He drove until his car became disabled and was no longer able to continue driving,' the department added. Authorities identified the vehicle's license plate as Paul Pelosi's. Cops said the car had 'significant damage to the front right,' which was consistent with the crash on Young Street. California Highway Patrol identified Paul's brown convertible just after the crash, which was partially blocking the roadway. Paul was not arrested but was charged with a misdemeanor. A re-evaluation referral will also be submitted to the Department of Motor Vehicles, which, cops noted, is common for elderly drivers.
