Murder investigation launched in Leicester after man found unconscious behind TescoA man has been arrested after police launched a murder probe following the death of a 62-year-old man who was found unconscious in a park behind a Tesco store in LeicesterNewsDylan Hayward and Olivia Beeson23:50, 06 Apr 2026Updated 23:53, 06 Apr 2026View 2 ImagesA man has been arrested after police launched a murder investigation in Leicester (Image: Dylan Hayward )A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found unconscious in a park behind a Tesco store.‌A murder investigation was launched after police were called to Beaumont Leys Park in Leicester on Monday evening, April 6 and found an unconscious man in the park.‌A 62-year-old was taken to hospital and sadly passed away.‌View 2 ImagesThe man was found in Beaumont Leys Park(Image: Dylan Hayward)East Midlands Ambulance Service were called to the scene just before 7pm and police have now confirmed they have arrested a 33-year-old man.‌He remains in police custody.Police cordons remain in place as the crime scene is examined.Detective Inspector Kevin Hames from East Midlands Murder Investigation Team, said: “We are in the very early stages of our investigation into the incident and the events leading up to it.Article continues below“The victim’s family have been identified and are being supported by specialist officers through this extremely difficult time.“We would urge anyone who was in this area during the evening and may have witnessed what happened or have any information about the incident to get in touch. We know it’s not always easy to report what you may have seen or heard but it’s vitally important we speak to as many people as possible.A spokesperson for the force said earlier in the evening: "An area in between Krefeld Way and Beaumont Way is cordoned off to allow officers to carry out a thorough examination of the scene and to identify any potential witnesses to the incident."
