Mumbai Indians’ Pollard fined for breaching IPL Code of Conduct
المصدر: Gulf News | Source: Gulf NewsDubai: Mumbai Indians batting coach Kieron Pollard has been penalised 15% of his match fee and given one demerit point for violating the IPL Code of Conduct during the game against Punjab Kings, reportedly for using inappropriate language towards the fourth umpire.
Pollard was ruled to have violated Article 2.3 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which deals with the use of audible obscene language during a match.
The incident reportedly took place in the 19th over of the second innings during the Mumbai Indians versus Punjab Kings clash on Thursday, when Pollard allegedly directed abusive remarks at the fourth umpire.
The 39-year-old acknowledged the offence and agreed to the punishment handed down by match referee Pankaj Dharmani.
“Pollard admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction imposed by Match Referee, Pankaj Dharmani,” said the league in an official statement.
Despite the victory, Mumbai’s eight points from 12 games place them ninth in the standings.
The five-time IPL champion is already eliminated from the tournament. Mumbai’s final two games of the season are against the Rajasthan Royals in Mumbai on May 24 and the Kolkata Knight Riders in Kolkata on May 20.
