أكد وزير الخارجية المصري بدر عبد العاطي، يوم الخميس، أن بلاده وبالتعاون مع باكستان وتركيا تؤدي دور وساطة لتخفيض التصعيد في منطقة الشرق الأوسط عبر نقل الرسائل بين أميركا وإيران.

وحذر عبد العاطي في مؤتمر صحفي عقده في القاهرة، من تداعيات "شديدة الخطورة" سياسيا واقتصاديا وأمنيا على المنطقة والعالم بأسره جراء "الحرب" في المنطقة.

وأعرب الوزير المصري عن أمله في استمرار الضغوط والاتصالات الدولية حتى يتم الوصول إلى تهدئة شاملة، مؤكداً أن هذه الجهود "لم تتوقف على الإطلاق وهي متواصلة بهدف التهدئة في لبنان وإنهاء الحرب في إيران"، مشدداً على أن البديل عن الدبلوماسية سيكون كارثياً على الجميع.

وفي سياق متصل، نوه عبد العاطي إلى أن القاهرة تدعم بشكل كامل جهود الدولة اللبنانية لبسط سلطتها السيادية على كافة أراضيها وحصر السلاح بيد المؤسسات الرسمية للدولة، كجزء من رؤية شاملة لاستقرار الجبهات المشتعلة.
