Morocco’s Weather Office Forecasts Rainfall, Snow and Sandstorms This Weekend
Rabat – A new weather alert forecasts strong winds, sandstorms, rain, or thunderstorms in addition to snowfall in several provinces from Thursday to Sunday in Morocco.
Morocco’s weather authority, the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) said today that strong winds between 70 and 80 kilometers per hour (km/h) are expected in the provinces of Errachidia, Midelt, Boulemane, Figuig, Jerada, and Taourit from 10 a.m to 9 p.m. on Thursday.
The weather is expected to be accompanied by sandstorms, the weather office added.
Meanwhile, rain or thunderstorms ranging between 20 and 30 millimeters are expected to affect the provinces of Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Safi, Essaouira, and Taroudant from Thursday at 3 p.m. to Friday at 3 p.m.
Snow is also expected to affect several provinces during the weekend.
The forecast expects snowfall to be between 10 and 20 centimeters at altitudes above 1,800 meters, covering the provinces of Midelt, Khenifra, Ifrane, Beni Mellal, and Azilal. The same weather will also affect Al Haouz and Tinghir.
