Morocco’s ‘Chikaya Santé’ Platform Receives 764 Complaints in First Four Days
Casablanca – Morocco’s new digital health complaints platform, “Chikaya Santé,” recorded 764 submissions in its first four days online, Health and Social Protection Minister Amine Tehraoui said Tuesday, pointing to what he described as growing public trust in the system.
Speaking at the Chamber of Councillors during a session on improving healthcare quality, Tehraoui noted the contrast with previous channels, where complaints averaged around ten per day. The spike, he suggested, reflects not just higher demand, but easier access and a clearer path for citizens to be heard.
The platform is designed as a centralized, digital interface where patients can file complaints, track their progress, and receive responses within set deadlines. It is backed by a national call and monitoring center and built around real-time tracking—part of a broader push to make public services more transparent and responsive.
Tehraoui framed the initiative within a wider transformation of Morocco’s healthcare system, where patient dignity and quality of care are being pushed to the forefront. That shift isn’t happening in isolation.
Over the past few years, Morocco has been steadily layering digital tools into public services—from the expansion of the AMO health coverage system in Morocco to the rollout of online administrative platforms like Chikaya.ma, which “Chikaya Santé” essentially builds on, but with a healthcare-specific focus.

The minister outlined four pillars behind the current reform effort.
First, emergency services. Since October 2025, hospitals have been reorganizing emergency intake using triage systems based on severity. More than 531 healthcare workers have been deployed to reinforce these units. Early signs show shorter waiting times and improved patient flow—though pressure remains high in major urban centers.
Second, capacity. Authorities have added 1,777 hospital beds through the opening of 11 new facilities, extending care access to roughly 14 million people. Three additional hospital projects completed in early 2026 contributed another 285 beds, with plans to roll out nearly 2,900 more by the end of the third quarter.
Third, patient experience. Hospitals have restructured reception and guidance services, appointing 70 medical-social assistants and creating 182 dedicated support units. The idea is simple but overdue: clearer patient pathways, less confusion, and someone on-site to actually help navigate the system.
Fourth, structural reform of emergency response. Morocco is moving toward a regionalized SAMU model—similar to systems used in Europe—while upgrading ambulance fleets and introducing real-time information systems to coordinate interventions more efficiently.
Beyond healthcare, the launch of “Chikaya Santé” fits into Morocco’s broader digitalization push—one that’s become more visible in recent years. Platforms like Massar system Morocco in education or Mahakim in the justice sector show a similar pattern: digitize access first, then try to fix the underlying service.
That momentum is also reflected in Morocco’s positioning on the regional tech calendar. Casablanca is set to host the first edition of GITEX Future Health Africa 2026 this May, bringing together stakeholders in digital health and innovation.
The platform’s early figures—764 complaints recorded within four days—provide an initial indication of usage following its launch and just how much pressure the system is under. Its effectiveness will be assessed over time based on processing times, response rates, and the handling of submitted cases.
