Morocco’s Boxing Team to Participate in Khabarovsk International Tournament
Rabat – Morocco’s men’s and women’s boxing teams are set to take part in the Khabarovsk International Tournament in Russia.
The tournament will kick off on Monday and will continue until April 26.
The Moroccan Federation of Boxing said the participation is part of the preparatory campaign for major upcoming international competitions.
The participation will allow the Moroccan technical staff to assess athletes’ preparedness and readiness for competitions.
“This tournament is particularly significant as it brings together strong and leading boxing schools, aiming to further strengthen the Moroccan national team with the best talents,” the federation said.
The men’s national team category will include five players competing in different weight classes, including Souleimane Smoughli and Yassine Chedghour, both in the 65 kg category.
Zeine El Abidine Amrough will compete in the 70 kg category, while Yassine El Werz will compete in the 75 kg category, and Harnoun Mohammed Amne in the 80 kg weight category.
As for the women’s team, only two athletes are part of the national squad: Hasnaa Larti and Nisrine Amine, both in the 75 kg category.
Nabil Hilmi, Vice President of the federation in charge of national teams, will be heading the Moroccan delegation.
Technical staff and coaches will also be part of the delegation, including Mohamed El Arjaoui, Idriss Moussaid, Bella Adil, and Mehdi El Khalssi.
The participation comes a month after Morocco’s U19 team secured four bronze medals at the World Boxing U19 Championship in March.
The four bronze medals mark Morocco’s first major result since the federation officially joined World Boxing and the country’s official arrival on this new international circuit.
