Morocco, France Deepen Cooperation for 2030 World Cup Preparations
A Moroccan-French joint committee convened at the Mohammed VI Football Complex on April 2 to assess the progress of ongoing cooperation as part of Morocco’s preparatory campaign to co-host the 2030 World Cup.
The discussions covered several areas, including infrastructure development, logistics, and event management.
The meeting came amid an official visit from Nicolas Forissier, France’s delegate minister of foreign Trade, who is leading a delegation to explore opportunities related to Morocco’s World Cup hosting.
France, drawing on its experience in organizing major international competitions – including the 2024 Summer Olympics – pledges to provide technical support and know-how to ensure Morocco meets global standards.
Beyond sports, the partnership reflects broader diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations. The 2030 World Cup is seen as a major opportunity for Morocco to boost its global image and strengthen international cooperation.
France and Morocco launched their joint committee last year. The cooperation focuses on exchanging expertise and supporting Morocco’s preparations for hosting one of the world’s biggest sporting events.

The economic aspects of the 2030 World Cup
From an economic perspective, Mohamed Bachiri, the Vice-President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), described the 2030 World Cup as a transformative project capable of boosting investment, modernizing key sectors, and generating employment opportunities.
He noted that global events of this scale can reshape a country’s trajectory, citing France’s experience with the 1998 World Cup and the Paris Olympics.
Co-hosted with Spain and Portugal, the 2030 tournament positions Morocco as a strategic bridge between Europe and Africa, reinforcing its role within the Euro-Mediterranean space.
