Maggie Day, 25, was filming the intense storm in the village of Glanaman in Carmarthenshire, Wales, on May 27 when she unexpectedly captured the powerful strike hitting the roof of the semi-detached house across the road. Footage taken later that evening shows the home engulfed in flames with the fire having spread to the neighbouring property. Firefighters were called to the scene at 11.23pm and brought the inferno under control in around three hours. However, the damage to the property was severe and the roof had completely caved in. Ms Day, from Ammanford, Wales, said: 'The thunder & lightning was nothing I've seen before, so I decided to record to capture the events, but caught the strike to my neighbour's house. 'There were people in the house at the time but I saw them get out quickly. 'The fire brigade arrived within minutes and were able to put out the fire quickly.' 'The crews responded to a fire at a two-storey, semi-detached domestic property. 'The property had been struck by lightning which ignited a fire on the property’s roof. 'The crews utilised six breathing apparatus sets, two hose reel jets, three thermal imaging cameras, ladders and ceiling hooks to extinguish the fire. 'Crews were supported by the attendance of the aerial turntable ladder appliance from Morriston Fire Station. 'Significant fire damage was caused to the property and the fire spread to a neighbouring property. All persons were accounted for and no injuries were reported. 'This incident required a multi-agency response, with Dyfed-Powys Police, the Ambulance Service and National Grid also in attendance. 'The crews left the scene at 2.45am on Thursday, May 28.'
