By WILL HALLOWELL, NEWS REPORTER Published: 19:12, 23 May 2026 | Updated: 19:26, 23 May 2026 Flip flop-wearing fly-tippers were caught red-handed dumping rubbish in a residential street in west London.  A CCTV camera captured the moment that Marius Grancea and two other men jumped out of a white Ford Transit van before throwing piles of waste on top of industrial bins on Weighton Road, Harrow, on April 18, 2025.  Footage showed two of the men, who were wearing the beach footwear, opening up the back of the van before the driver got out. They carried cardboard boxes and other waste out of the vehicle and dumped it on the top of the business bins, which were already over-flowing. The criminals weren't even put off by a car pulling out of a driveway right next to them. However they were caught in the act, with Harrow Council's CCTV cameras capturing the whole incident.  Grancea, who lives 18 miles away in Enfield, north London, appeared before a court on April 9 this year and ordered to pay £2,337. He was told he would be jailed if he did it again. A Harrow Council spokesperson said: 'Three men and a white van were dumping waste on Weighton Road. The men jumped out of a white Ford Transit van before throwing piles of waste on top of industrial bins on Weighton Road, in Harrow, on April 18, 2025 However they were caught red-handed, with Harrow Council's CCTV cameras capturing the whole incident 'Their quick "trash and dash" was caught on our CCTV camera. Our officers moved fast. They found one of them and took them to court. 'Marius Grancea, from Enfield, pleaded guilty. Judge said it was deliberate. 'Ordered to pay £2,337 for the crime and warned they risk custody if found to do it again. 'We're getting tough on criminal dumpers. If you see it, report it online.' Harrow residents reacted with fury, demanding that fly-tippers be hit with harsher fines and suggesting the van should be 'taken away as punishment' for the crimes of Grancea and his accomplices.   One local, Jo Francis, said: 'Fine needs to be way higher.'  Another, Fran Ronan, fumed: 'The van should be taken away as the punishment.' Meanwhile a third, Agris Briwmanis, joked: 'Flip flops mafia.' No comments have so far been submitted. Why not be the first to send us your thoughts, or debate this issue live on our message boards.
