Moment fairground ride's cable SNAPS sending thrill-seekers smashing towards the ground in Spain

By SABRINA PENTY, FOREIGN NEWS REPORTER Published: 14:23, 25 April 2026 | Updated: 14:23, 25 April 2026 This is the moment a cable snapped on a fairground ride, sending thrill-seekers crashing towards the ground in Spain.  Dramatic footage taken by onlookers on the ground shows the catapult bungee, which had passengers strapped into seats, being launched into the air.  Just as the passengers are being swung in a circle, the cable suddenly snaps, sending the seats crashing to the ground at high speed.  Onlookers could be heard screaming and shouting out: 'My God' as the incident unfolded on the slingshot ride called Steel Max.  Separate footage showed passengers lying on the ground by the ride as they waited for paramedics to arrive.   Four people, including two children, sustained minor injuries in the incident at Seville's famous annual fair on Friday evening.  Screen grab shows a catapult bungee being launched into the air The cable suddenly snaps, sending the seats crashing to the ground at high speed Four people were injured, including two children  According to local newspaper El Diario de Sevilla, two children were also left suspended in mid-air.  The Seville City Council said in a social media post last night that two of the victims were treated at the site of the fairground attraction,  which was sealed off by firefighters.  The area has been cordoned off as local police launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.  The incident in Seville comes as the Spanish city celebrates its 'Feria de Abril' spring fair, where locals celebrate Andalusian culture with music, dancing and traditional dress.  It also comes several months after a fairground worker died after suffering serious head injuries following an 'emergency incident' on a ride at a seaside funfair.   Police and paramedics rushed to the Spanish City Summer Funfair in Whitley Bay, Tyne and Wear, last August, where the funfair worker -  a man in his 20s - was injured.  Despite the best efforts of medical staff to save him, he succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead, Northumbria Police said.  Screen grab shows emergency workers at the site of the incident  A police spokesperson said the man's next of kin had been contacted and were being supported by specialist officers.
