KARACHI: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and FIA Director General (DG) Dr Usman Anwar on Friday directed the timely redressal of complaints and ensuring transparent investigations at all costs.

The directions were issued during their visit to the FIA Karachi Zone, where they conducted a detailed inspection of various departments.

On the occasion, the director of FIA Karachi Zone and the additional director general (South) gave a comprehensive briefing on ongoing complaints, inquiries, and important cases.

The senior officials conducted a detailed review of the performance of all circles and emphasised that public grievances must be resolved on a priority basis.

During the visit, special attention was also given to matters related to the welfare of officers and staff.

Director FIA stated that the promotion system was being further improved to ensure the professional development of officers. He also issued directions regarding the conduct of medical tests for officers and staff, as well as the provision of additional medical facilities.

Anwar further emphasised the need to enhance overall institutional performance, adding that additional resources would be provided based on improved performance.

The director of the FIA Karachi Zone assured senior officials that public issues would be resolved with transparency and merit at every level and that the institution’s performance would be further improved.

On Monday, Naqvi vowed to transform FIA into a modern, dynamic, and effective institution by December 31.

Speaking at a special conference of FIA officers, he said there would be zero tolerance for corruption and a system of reward and punishment would be introduced.

He said that while honest officers would be provided full protection and job security, strict action would be taken against those involved in corruption.

“If you stand for truth and justice, the government will stand with you,” the minister said.

He stated that Anwar had recently taken over as the FIA director general and the agency would be made a “vibrant institution” under his leadership.

“Making FIA the strongest and most reliable institution is our top priority,” the interior minister said.
