Mogul's surfer-dad facade obliterated as feud gripping ritzy Southern enclave takes a dark turn... after lurid claims about his influencer wife and a MAGA congressman

By BEVAN HURLEY and CONNOR BOYD, ASSOCIATE EDITOR Published: 01:44, 1 July 2026 | Updated: 01:44, 1 July 2026 Ron Rallis was one of Greenville's rising real estate stars, posting idyllic Instagram shots of his family in waterfront homes in the Hamptons and South Carolina, shirtless skateboarding and luxury holidays abroad just three years ago.  But today, the 47-year-old multimillionaire property developer is divorced from his wife, notorious for making a 'mockery' of the town church and is entangled in a slew of separate legal battles. The moment his life dramatically pivoted came in 2023, when he was jailed for three months for contempt of court amid a prolonged legal dispute, in which he accused US Congressman William Timmons of having an affair with his then-wife, Paula Dhier.  'My time in jail, separated from my baby and the unknowns that lied (sic) ahead was by far the most terrifying mental war I'd ever experienced,' Rallis wrote in a Thanksgiving Day Instagram post after his release.  Rallis made a series of increasingly lurid allegations against Timmons during the dispute, which were never proven. Timmons refuted Rallis's claims as 'absolutely false.' Rallis accused the state's legal system of protecting powerful political figures while destroying his relationship with his daughter Sterling, six. The campaign transformed a private marital dispute into one of the most talked-about stories in South Carolina politics. By the time it was over, Rallis had become as famous as the congressman he was trying to expose.  Soon after arriving in Greenville Rallis met Paula Dhier, a lifestyle and travel blogger. The pair married just a year later Rallis regularly posted images of him traveling with his daughter on Instagram Born in southern California, Rallis bought his first investment property while still in college and later relocated to booming Greenville around 2009.  He built a fortune flipping houses before expanding into commercial property and self-storage developments, eventually amassing a multimillion-dollar portfolio of homes stretching from the Hamptons to Florida. Soon after arriving in Greenville he met Dhier, a lifestyle and travel blogger. The pair married a year later.  The couple eventually became close friends with Timmons and his wife Sarah. Dhier was widely described as one of Sarah Timmons's closest friends. It is unclear how soon after the couples met when the alleged affair began.  In his only substantial public comments on the alleged affair, Congressman Timmons described many of Rallis' claims in July 2022 as 'absolutely false,' dismissed the reporting as 'gutter gossip,' and denied having any influence over law enforcement or prosecutors. Overnight, a former Baptist church he had recently purchased in West Greenville was painted bubblegum pink. Across the front, in giant black letters, appeared a single word: 'TRAP.'  The transformation stunned locals. Standing outside the building, Rallis initially refused to explain himself beyond saying he wanted attention focused on 'my issue.' Later, during an interview with local news site FITSNews inside the church, he claimed he was fighting a corrupt political and family court system that was trying to take his daughter away. 'The system needs to be dismantled and reevaluated,' he said. 'This whole good ole boy system is outright wrong.' The church quickly became one of South Carolina's strangest landmarks and a visual symbol of the increasingly surreal feud consuming Greenville politics.  Rallis painted a church pink in his hometown in protest of the 'family court system', stunning Greenville locals Standing outside the building, Rallis initially refused to explain himself beyond saying he wanted attention focused on 'my issue'  Rallis initially promised to consult residents about turning the building into a community venue. But instead, the pink building sat largely abandoned, becoming a magnet for vandalism and trespassers before suffering multiple fires.  It was demolished last year after being heavily damaged in an apparent arson attack. Inez Morris, president of the West Greenville Neighborhood Association, said that painting the church pink 'was a mockery to the neighborhood, and a mockery to the church itself.' 'It saddens my heart that nothing was ever done to make the neighborhood a better place,' she told the Daily Mail. 'It could have been turned into another church or a community center, something to benefit the neighborhood. 'What I know about property developers is that it's never about improving the neighborhood. It's always about the money.' While the spectacle dominated local headlines, Congressman Timmons survived politically. On Instagram, Rallis cultivated the image of a devoted father, regularly posting holiday photographs As the custody battle dragged on, Rallis' own legal problems mounted He narrowly won the Republican primary in 2022 before securing another term in Congress that November.  As rumors of the affair began circulating in 2022, Timmons released a statement.  'Sarah and I are going through a difficult private matter. We appreciate your prayers and respect for our privacy.'  He and Sarah Timmons legally separated later that year and divorced in 2024. Timmons is on the ballot in this year's general election after advancing past his primary challengers earlier in June.  The Daily Mail has reached out to Congressman Timmons' office for comment, and made multiple attempts to reach Rallis through his attorney.  Dhier filed for divorce from Rallis later that year, sparking a bitter custody battle. Dhier did not respond to the Daily Mail's request for comment, and has never publicly addressed her former husband's accusations of infidelity.   As the custody battle dragged on between his ex-wife, Rallis' own legal problems mounted. His persistent social media posts about the family court proceedings eventually landed him in jail after a judge found him in contempt of court.  Rallis later said he spent three months incarcerated alongside men accused of violent crimes and described the experience as psychologically devastating. He recalled waking one morning to find a fellow inmate dead. 'One evening a bunk mate shared his story with me over noodles, the next morning I woke up to… him hung by his bedsheet in the bathroom.' Yet even from jail he continued buying property. During his incarceration, he purchased a $2.5m waterfront home in Folly Beach, writing afterwards: 'I can't put into words what this home has done for my soul, but the last few years have hardened my heart into someone I didn't like.' On Instagram, he cultivated the image of a devoted surfer-dad, regularly posting holiday photographs, birthday celebrations and parenting advice beneath the handle @churchgreenville. The publicity was enough to earn him an invitation to join Bravo reality show Southern Charm, an offer he declined, according to FITSNews. Away from social media, police records painted a very different picture. In August 2022, Rallis was stopped on Montauk Highway in New York and charged with misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon after police found a Glock pistol in his vehicle. The firearm was legally registered in South Carolina. The court files were partially sealed, and the charges were downgraded to a minor public safety violation, an East Hampton Town Justice Court clerk said. The case is ongoing, and no trial date has been set.  Three months later, police in Folly Beach charged Rallis with DUI, resisting arrest and child endangerment after alleging he rear-ended another vehicle while driving with his daughter.  Officers said he was confused, disoriented and slurred his speech when approached, according to an arrest report. The Daily Mail has asked Rallis's attorney for comment on the pending case.  Then, in March this year, police say he walked into Woody's Pizza on Folly Beach and punched a 59-year-old patron from behind, knocking him from his bar stool. The alleged victim, Daniel Festa, declined to discuss the incident in detail when contacted by the Daily Mail, citing the ongoing court case. Rallis has continued to make local headlines in Folly Beach, South Carolina (pictured)  In March this year, police say Rallis walked into Woody's Pizza on Folly Beach and punched a 59-year-old patron from behind, knocking him from his bar stool 'I can't say anything because it hasn't been through the courts yet,' he said. 'I don't know anything about this guy other than he assaulted me and disrupted my life.' Rallis faces charges of third-degree assault and battery and disorderly conduct in connection with that incident. Those charges remain pending.  Yet Rallis has continued making headlines in Folly Beach. In June, a company he controls completed the purchase of the Sand Dollar Social Club, one of the island's best-known dive bars, famous for its dollar beers, Harley Davidsons and fiercely loyal local clientele. When the longtime owners put the landmark on the market, many residents feared it would be demolished to make way for luxury redevelopment. Rallis has reportedly promised to preserve the Sand Dollar's character. Whether Folly Beach ultimately sees him as the man who saved one of its last old-school institutions – or simply another wealthy outsider reshaping the island in his own image – remains an open question.
