Patrick Smith / Getty Images Share articleMINNEAPOLIS — Ryan Jeffers exited Monday’s contest early and is being evaluated for a left wrist sprain. The Minnesota Twins catcher said he’s due to undergo an MRI on Tuesday morning after he was pulled during the middle of an at-bat late in his team’s 6-3 victory over the Houston Astros. “I was kind of going through the mental battle of whether I could swing or not and then made the decision,” Jeffers said. “We’ll know more (Tuesday).” Leading off the eighth inning, Jeffers broke his bat when he fouled off the first pitch. Jeffers flipped his bat to himself, walked over, grabbed a new piece of lumber and took a practice swing as he stepped back into the box. After taking two balls, Jeffers paused his at-bat to confer with the team’s athletic training staff, then headed to the clubhouse. A free agent after this season, Jeffers is off to a fantastic start. He went 1-for-3 with a double Monday and is hitting .295/.408/.541 with seven home runs and 26 RBIs. Spot the pattern. Connect the terms Find the hidden link between sports terms
