Casablanca – Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour said on Tuesday that Morocco’s serviced industrial land reserve currently stands at 15,000 hectares, up from 10,000 hectares at the start of the government’s term, with an additional 7,000 hectares in the pipeline.

Speaking during an oral question session at the House of Councillors on mobilizing land reserves for investment, raised by the National Rally of Independents (RNI) group, Mezzour said the country has significantly expanded the industrial land base to meet rising investor demand.

He noted that over the past three months alone, the industrial land reserve in the outskirts of Casablanca was strengthened through the addition of 1,800 hectares, in response to existing needs, stressing that the effort will continue in line with market demand.

The minister added that the ministry has committed to allowing businesses affected by warehouse clearance operations access to alternative land plots at a preferential rate of MAD 600 per square meter, while also granting them additional time to vacate. The measure is designed to help them maintain investments in authorized activities.

Regarding project implementation, Mezzour said the ministry has approved 1,960 projects, with 86% already linked to identified land plots.

The remaining projects, he explained, are mainly delayed either because their territorial destination has yet to be determined or because financing arrangements have not been finalized. He added that ongoing work is underway to support these projects, particularly on the financing front.

Mezzour also acknowledged that the rollout of Morocco’s Investment Charter may still generate some procedural challenges, particularly in relation to the disbursement of incentives and compensation.

He stressed, however, that the ministry is actively working to address these issues in order to preserve investor confidence in Morocco’s industrial momentum, while continuing efforts to simplify procedures and facilitate access to investment support programs.
