The latest updates in Italy claim that Christopher Nkunku has ‘said yes’ to the idea of returning to his former club RB Leipzig and that Milan will be seeking a fee of up to €35m to send the Frenchman out on loan with an option or potential obligation to buy.
Nkunku ‘says yes’ to Leipzig return from Milan
Nkunku is considered surplus to requirements under newly-appointed Milan head coach Ruben Amorim and is widely expected to leave the club before the close of the summer transfer window.
His former club RB Leipzig are among the clubs hoping to agree a deal with the Rossoneri and are currently ‘leading the race’ according to various reports in Italy. Newcastle United has also been mentioned as a potential destination.
According to the latest updates from Sky Sport transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Nkunku has recently agreed to the idea of returning to Leipzig this summer, which is considered a crucial step in the talks between the Frenchman, Milan and the Bundesliga club.
Milan and Leipzig will continue discussing the financial details of a potential deal over the weekend, but Saturday’s reports make it clear that the Rossoneri are standing firm with their valuation of €33m-€35m if they are to sell Nkunku or to send him out on loan with an option or obligation to buy.
Reports in Italy indicate that the clubs are currently discussing a loan deal with an option to buy. Nkunku reportedly earns a net salary in the region of €5m per season.
Nkunku joined Milan from Chelsea at a fixed cost of €37m with bonuses of up to €4m-€5m last summer and went on to provide seven goals and three assists from 32 appearances in Serie A in 2025-26. He also netted once from two outings in the Coppa Italia.
