However, that record should be broken again on Wednesday as Met Office weather forecasters anticipate highs of 26C locally.‌Temperature anomaly maps have turned deep red, meaning the mercury will rise well above the seasonal average. The GFS weather model suggests the greatest temperature surges will be in England and Wales.‌The Met Office’s own weather maps show as many as 25 towns and cities will see temperatures of 20C or above. This will make them hotter than several holiday hotspots in Europe.
