Met detective sent more than 1,000 sexually explicit messages to female officers and tried to plan 'private meet-ups' in police stations

Published: 20:22, 11 August 2026 | Updated: 20:25, 11 August 2026 A Metropolitan Police detective told a female officer he was 'very keen to be sorted out and put in my place' while arranging to meet for sex inside police stations. Detective chief inspector Chris Soole sent more than 1,000 'personal, intimate and sexually explicit' messages to two female officers from May to November last year on a Met-issued phone. A misconduct hearing heard the messages showed a 'consistent pattern' of arranging in-person meetings in police buildings 'with an emphasis on privacy, locked offices and avoiding interruption'. Soole, previously part of the Met's homicide and major crime command and the force's gangs team, accepted the allegations against him but said the interactions he had with the other officers were consensual. As a Met detective, Soole worked on major cases including the murder of Jaden Moodie, 14, who was stabbed to death in Leyton, east London, in 2019. He also led the investigation into a double acid attack in Camden, north London, where two women were targeted in July 2024. Soole used his Met phone to organise meetings at Holborn and Kentish Town police stations, once texting: 'Haha 360 would show Holborn police station, so that ties in with a quick meeting.' He may have been referring to Life360, a live location-sharing app. Metropolitan Police detective Chris Soole arranged sex with other officers in police stations last year using a force-issued mobile phone In May last year he messaged one of the women: 'I'm limited in what I can say on your job phone concerning things I'd like to do.' Three days later he messaged: 'Promise your door locks?' The following month he sent three explicit messages from the phone within ten minutes from 9.43am to 9.51am. On August 8 last year he said: 'Actually 12th is better as it's in complete darkness.' And in November he texted saying: 'I'm very keen to allow things I've wanted to before but couldn't.' A misconduct report found Soole exchanged 715 messages with one female officer 'of a personal, inappropriate or sexual nature' and 300 with another. This included arranging separate sexual encounters with the two officers. The report found Soole's behaviour was 'intentional and deliberate', adding the detective 'knew it was wrong'. His actions caused 'serious harm to the reputation of the police service' and the report said the public would 'rightly be appalled' at his conduct, which was 'persistent and took place over a sustained period of time'. Soole's messages were discovered after he entered an incorrect passcode on the phone too many times last year and handed it to the Met to be restored. Soole arranged to meet fellow officers for sex in Holborn and Kentish Town police stations Though Soole resigned in June, shortly before the investigation into his conduct began, the panel found he would have been dismissed without notice and ordered him to be placed on the College of Policing's barred list. Detective chief superintendent Ahenkora Bediako, of the Met's professionalism command, said Soole's 'inappropriate' messages, often sent on duty, 'appalled' the force. 'This is an officer who was in a leadership position and instead of acting as a role model, engaged in a pattern of behaviour which is wholly unacceptable. 'Despite DCI Soole resigning just before the misconduct hearing was about to start, it is right that the facts were laid out and that he will now be placed on the College of Policing's barred list.' A misconduct investigation into the two female officers remains ongoing.
