GB News host Martin Daubney has been left astounded by the second batch of Peter Mandelson files, as he pointed out the "colossal" scale of redactions.

Sweeping through the physical copies of the files, Martin held up several pages for GB News viewers to see, comparing the redactions to "Morse code".

The latest release, consisting of more than 1,500 pages, revealed the disgraced peer was "worried about the economy" under a Labour Government and expressed concerns for the Chagos deal.

He also suggested ex-Health Secretary Wes Streeting was having an "early mid-life crisis" after a "wild, long, hysterical message about Israel".

As GB News Political Editor Christopher Hope handed Martin the physical copies of the files, Martin noted "loads has been cut out" of the pages and pages of correspondence.

Martin told the GB News panel: "This is absolutely colossal, just colossal volume, but there's loads of redactions, lads.

"Absolutely loads and loads has been cut out. Loads and loads has been redacted."

Upon closer inspection, Martin showed multiple pages to GB News viewers, showing how little information was left on them for public consumption.

Martin said: "I'm just going through it, there's blank pages. Left, right and centre, entire pages have been left blank.

"Whole pages just blanked out. We'll never know what was in there, they've chosen not to even publish it."

Offering some defence of the Government, Christopher told Martin: "The Government is, to its credit, releasing the information it doesn't want to release. It is responding to a motion passed in Parliament.

"They could have whipped MPs to vote against humble address, and they chose not to."

Martin continued to examine the files, telling his panel: "But as we go through this, honestly, there are just so many blank pages.

"Zoom in on this page, it looks like Morse code! They've basically taken everything out apart from letters, it's absurd."

Martin stressed correspondence relating to the UK Government's visit to New York to meet with the United Nations has also been heavily redacted.

He said: "The UK mission to the United States, for the United Nations in New York, the entire UK visit on the United Nations - everything, page after page after page, nothing, blank."

Reading from another volume of the Peter Mandelson files, former Attorney General Sir Michael Ellis highlighted a conversation between Lord Mandelson and Work and Pensions Secretary Pat McFadden.

Sir Michael revealed: "Peter Mandelson said 'does he even realise the PLP (Parliamentary Labour Party), I gather, is in a mutinous state?'

"Pat McFadden responded, 'Yes, every meeting I have is who can we tax in order to pay benefits to others. They're asking the wrong questions.'"

Martin concluded: "And that delicious handwritten letter to David Lammy with that haunting sign off, 'if you were kind to appoint me, I would make sure you'd never regret it'. Peter, they do regret it. Everybody regrets this appointment of Peter Mandelson."
