Manchester City Hit Back in Style to Keep Title Race Alive
المصدر: Morocco World News | Source: Morocco World NewsRabat – Manchester City beat Chelsea comfortably in matchday 32 of the Premier League. The match lived up to expectations, after a poor first half, the Citizens managed to dominate and won 3-0 at Stamford Bridge.
Manchester City took advantage of Arsenal’s 2-1 loss to Bournemouth, delivering a classy performance led by Cherki, who assisted 2 goals.
In less than 20 minutes, Pep Guardiola’s men managed to score three goals, the first one in the 50th minute with a header from Nico O’Reilly. Seven minutes later, Marc Guhi finished off a fast attack placing the ball in the right corner past Robert Sanchez. Chelsea could do little to stop the onslaught.
The game was sealed when Jéremy Doku rounded his marker from the right, cut inside, and fired a powerful left-footed shot into the net, leaving the goalkeeper totally exposed. The three goals in just18 minutes finished the job and reminded everyone that they are not out of the title race.
City moved back to within 6 points of the Premier League table and still have a game in hand over their direct title rivals, Arsenal. Their meeting next week at the Etihad Stadium promises to be decisive.
For Chelsea FC, it was a missed chance to strengthen the fight for Champions League qualification.
