Man is charged with murder after man, 32, found stabbed to death in West Midlands town

Published: 16:05, 9 August 2026 | Updated: 16:09, 9 August 2026 A 20-year-old has been charged with murder after a man was found stabbed to death in a West Midlands town.  Stephen Clarke, 32, was attacked in the early hours of Saturday morning in Chester Road, Sutton Coldfield, north of Birmingham. He was pronounced dead at the scene, West Midlands Police said. Joseph Cargill, 20, has been charged with murder, the force confirmed.  He was remanded in custody and will appear before a magistrates court in Birmingham on Monday. Police urged anyone who had any information or was in the area at the time to come forward.  Flowers and a card were left at the scene of a stabbing where Mr Clarke was found dead on Chester Road. 'Mr Clarke’s family have requested their privacy be respected at this time.'
