Man found dead on Brighton shoreline weeks after sisters’ deaths

A fourth body has been found on a beach in Brighton as police confirm a man was found dead on Friday morning (May 29), just two weeks after three sisters died in the area. Sussex Police were called to Rottingdean beach after reports of concern for a man were made. Officers remain at the scene and a cordon has been put in place, the Mirror reports. A spokesperson said: " Police were called to the beach at Rottingdean on Friday morning, May 29, after a report of a body of a man found on the beach. He has not yet been formally identified and enquiries are being made to establish the full circumstances." The incident follows the recovery of three bodies near Madeira Drive on May 13. The women were later named as Jane Adetoro, 36, Christina Walters, 32, and Rebecca Walters, 31, all from the Uxbridge area of London. An inquest into the deaths of the three sisters opened in Brighton on Friday, where it was heard that post‑mortem examinations had so far returned a provisional cause of death as “yet to be ascertained”. Senior coroner Penelope Schofield told the women’s father, Joseph Jacobson, who attended the hearing remotely, that the loss of his daughters must be “unbearable”, offering him her condolences. Statements read to the court confirmed that Ms Adetoro was brought ashore by an RNLI crew and pronounced dead by a paramedic at the scene. Christina Walters was recovered from the water by an RNLI lifeboat, while Rebecca Walters was washed on to Brighton beach - both were also declared deceased by paramedics. The inquest was told that medical investigations remain ongoing to determine the cause of death for all three women, though police currently believe there was no third‑party involvement. The court also heard that the sisters lived at the same address in Greenford, west London, and that their occupations were not known. The coroner said she hoped the information disclosed in court would help "stop social media speculation" surrounding the circumstances of their deaths. The inquest was adjourned until October 8. Following their deaths, Mr Jacobson said there were days when the grief felt “unbearable”, but that he continued to hold on to their memories and “the bond that death can never take away”.
