Man dies after falling several floors through busy bar on Bank Holiday weekend

A man in his 40s has died after falling several floors in a Birmingham bar over the Bank Holiday weekend. The tragedy is understood to have occurred at Henman & Cooper, a rooftop bar in the city centre , at around 6.20pm on Sunday. Officers cordoned off the building on Colmore Row. The man is reported to have fallen a "number of floors within the building", according to Birmingham Live . He was taken to hospital but later died. Police said the death is not being treated as suspicious. A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said on Monday: "We were called to Colmore Row, Birmingham city centre, at around 6.20pm yesterday (May 3) after a man fell a number of floors within a building. "The man, aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital but has since sadly died. Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this awful time. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report is being prepared for the coroner." Henman & Cooper said on social media that it would remain closed for the rest of Sunday due to "unforeseen circumstances". The venue wrote: "Dear guests, due to unforeseen circumstances Henman & Cooper will be closed this evening [Sunday, May 3]. We apologise and appreciate your understanding. We look forward to welcoming you back soon, Thank you, Team H&C."
