Man defies odds to win lottery jackpot TWICE in space of just a few weeks
A man from the US state of Ohio has shockingly scooped lottery wins twice in the same store within a few weeks.
According to the Ohio Lottery, the player won $5,000 in his first win and, shortly afterwards, secured another $10,000.
The man from the city of Brunswick, only identified as Richard, won both prizes with scratch-card tickets, which he bought in the same store – a Valero gas station in the city.
The first win came on March 28, with an Ultimate $5,000,000 ticket, and the second on April 24, winning with a "Billion" scratch card.
When he saw that he had won, he was in shock, saying his "prayers have truly been answered" after the second win.
Now, Richard says he is thinking it might be his "lucky gas station".
In total, the man collected $15,000, which he now wants to use to have the roof of his house replaced.
After 26.75 per cent federal and state taxes, Richard will receive $10,987.50 for both prizes.
The landmark win follows another Ohio Lottery player, who landed a staggering $3.5million Classic Lotto jackpot after playing the same set of numbers for more than two decades.
The man, who chose to remain anonymous, won in the February 4 drawing and told lottery officials he kept buying tickets despite two decades of mostly small wins because he is “stubborn".
The winner never broke his routine, budgeting $10 a month for tickets, and leaning on his best friend to keep the streak alive when he was out of town.

When the winning numbers were announced, the long-time player recognised the combination instantly – 6-8-16-20-26-45 – even though he did not have the ticket with him.
After memorising the numbers over 22 years of playing, he realised almost immediately he had finally hit the jackpot.
Overwhelmed, he shouted the news to his wife and celebrated by keeping a long-running promise: "We’re going to get a really big pool."
The winner opted for the cash payout of $1.7million, where after mandatory state and federal taxes, he will take home $1,281,875.
He said he officially retired following the win and plans to buy a house, build a home gym and follow through on his promise to add a big pool for his wife.
The odds of matching all six numbers to win the Classic Lotto jackpot are 1 in 13,983,816, according to the Ohio Lottery.
