Man charged with murder over missing Sydney woman as police continue desperate search for her body
Published: 22:56, 11 June 2026 | Updated: 22:59, 11 June 2026 A man has been charged with murder over the alleged kidnapping of a woman who disappeared after telling her family she was meeting a relative in Sydney's northwest. The 58-year-old was last heard from about 4.50pm on Monday when she told family she was heading to Winston Hills, but she never returned home. Her car was found in the suburb, about 28km west of Sydney, at about 9.30am the following day. Police launched an investigation into the woman's disappearance before arresting Ante Popovic, 33, in bushland near Nowra at about 1.40pm on Thursday. He was later charged with murder. He was allegedly found sitting in a white Toyota Hilux along Parnell Fire Trail at Tomerong, south of Nowra. The woman's body has not been found.
