Stuttering starts, goals in every match and plenty of excitement - the Scottish Premiership returned with a bang and there is more to look forward to this weekend.

There is a full card, including one game live on Sky Sports, and we look at the big talking points as you can predict the score for every match...

Pitch perfect at Rugby Park?

Kilmarnock will debut their new grass pitch on Sunday, live on Sky Sports, when they welcome Celtic to Ayrshire.

Neil McCann believes it will be "one of the finest in the country" as he looks to the change as an advantage, despite their impressive home record on their old artificial surface.

After losing 4-3 at St Johnstone, the manager will be demanding a performance but it could be a tough ask against Celtic.

Benjamin Nygren scored the Hoops only goal in their season opener - no player has scored more goals (17) or winning goals (6) than him in the Scottish Premiership since the beginning of last season.

They could be without Martin O'Neill this weekend as the manager recovers from undergoing a "small procedure" in hospital.

Can McInnes get off the mark?

It has been a difficult start for Derek McInnes at Rangers, with the Premiership draw at Dundee United followed by a 2-1 defeat to Jagiellonia Białystok in Europa League qualifying.

Goals are not a problem at Ibrox - there have been 35 scored in Rangers' last seven league games, an average of five per game.

The most recent was a 2-1 defeat to Hibernian in May - they've never lost consecutive home league games against the same team both times.

Hibs head to Glasgow buoyed by their Conference League win on Thursday night after they kicked off their new Premiership season with a home defeat.

Victory for Vrancken?

It has been a testing start for Wouter Vrancken at Hearts - in the past week, they have suffered a late collapse at Aberdeen and a 6-1 humbling by Benfica in Europa League qualifying.

They will try again for their first win under the new head coach when they host Dundee United on Sunday, a side unbeaten in their last three trips to Tynecastle Park.

Jim Goodwin's side came agonisingly close to a win against Rangers a week ago, instead settling for a draw as they target a return to the top six this season.

More to come from Motherwell?

When Motherwell lost Jens Berthel Askou at the end of the season, many fans feared the worst until Alfred Johansson arrived in Lanarkshire.

He's made an unbeaten start to their European qualifying campaign and they kicked off the new Premiership campaign with a win at Hibs.

It's a different story for Falkirk after an impressive return to the top-flight. They are out of the League Cup and lost at home to St Mirren in the Premiership last weekend.

The Bairns have won on their last three visits to Fir Park, but those fixtures have been spread over a 16-year period.

Can St Johnstone make it back-to-back wins on Premiership return?

Simo Valakari's side returned to the Scottish Premiership with a bang last weekend, edging Kilmarnock in a 4-3 thriller.

It was also a winning start for St Mirren, who are now looking for their opening top league matches in a season for the first time since 2023.

The Buddies have lost four of their last five home games against newly promoted opposition. St Johnstone have not started a top-flight campaign with two wins since 2017-18 under Tommy Wright.

Will Dundee's home run continue?

After a narrow defeat to champions Celtic, Dundee return to Dens Park looking to pick up where they left off in the Premiership and make it four straight wins.

Steven Pressley's side have won their last two league games against Aberdeen, as many as their previous 33, while the Reds have scored at least twice in their last seven meetings.

Aberdeen's Kevin Nisbet scored and assisted in their impressive 2-1 comeback win over Hearts last weekend.

Away from home, Nisbet's last three league goals have all been scored at Dens Park against Dundee; one each in September 2024, February 2025 and December 2025.
