The M6 has been closed northbound following a crash, resulting in significant traffic disruption.
Two lanes have been shut between the Lancaster and Carnforth junctions (J34 and J35) while emergency services attend the scene.
Traffic is now being allowed to pass via lane three, but considerable tailbacks remain.
National Highways has warned delays are exceeding 60 minutes ahead of the incident.
Congestion has also stretched back around three miles.
