Kush Maini claimed the second pole position of his FIA Formula 2 season at the Hungaroring, setting a 1m 28.896s during Qualifying. The ART Grand Prix driver pulled out the quickest time late in the day, making the most of ideal track conditions on his final run, as he was the only man to dip beneath the 1m 29s. Title contender Rafael Camara had looked like the driver to beat right up until the chequered flag. The Invicta Racing and Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy talent wound up second in the end, just over a tenth down on Maini’s final attempt. In third position was Noel Leon for Campos Racing, who was on the front row until Camara improved on his final lap. Elsewhere, championship leader Nikola Tsolov had to settle for seventh position having held provisional pole earlier on in the session. Likewise, Gabriele Mini was another driver who’d been fighting in the top 10, but the driver second in the points finished the day in ninth place for MP Motorsport. Alexander Dunne was 17th in Qualifying, leaving him with a fightback in the Sprint and Feature races.
